Ada Xiaoyu Hao
Ada Xiaoyu Hao is an artist-researcher who creates sound, video, (installation) performance. Her narrative based works use role-playing as a method to trigger and explore the emergence of spatial-temporal ‘heterotopias’ (spatial otherness) in relation to the futurity of human beings under the veil of “becoming multiple”. Ada also created the platform, PAPRIKA Collective, in alignment with her performance practice. She is currently working on her practice-based Ph.D. at University of Brighton, UK, supervised by Paul Sermon and Duncan Bullen. Her practice-based research explores the diffractive process of becoming through an ephemera of characters and post-human subjects constructed using role-playing and fiction-as-method. Previously, Ada studied at Royal College of Art, MA Performance; BA (yr2) Photography, Camberwell, UAL; and Self-designed major: World Performing Arts and Culture in College of William and Mary, USA.
