Artist Antonín Brinda (CZ) invites you to an exploration of Istanbul’s peripheral neighborhood of Ümraniye. This area was randomly chosen by the artist from the Istanbul street atlas purchased in a local bookstore. To use the element of chance was a conscious decision as chance plays a crucial role in our lives as well as in the history of art.

You are invited for the trip together with a small group of other friends (please, feel free to invite also your friends!). This exploration aims to pay homage to a “big Istanbul” – to rediscover the city, to see its other side far from the central hip neighborhoods. The trip wishes to show the city’s mundane, unacknowledged, anonymous, forgotten face and wants to ponder upon the question of how art activities could be brought to Istanbul’s peripheral areas.
